Iran Launches Missiles at Israel Following Deadly Israeli Strikes on Nuclear and Military Targets

On Friday, June 13, 2025, Iran launched a series of ballistic missiles into Israeli territory as a direct response to Israeli airstrikes that targeted nuclear facilities, military bases, and scientific centers across Iran the previous night.

These Israeli attacks resulted in significant Iranian casualties, including the deaths of the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, Hossein Salami, and more than twenty senior military officials and nuclear scientists.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard confirmed that its missiles struck several targets within Israel, including the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Tel Aviv. Images shared on social media show that several of these missiles managed to evade Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, which is designed to intercept incoming rockets and missiles.

The Iranian missile strikes occurred in two waves: the first launched shortly after the Israeli bombings was largely intercepted, while the second successfully penetrated Israeli defenses, causing explosions and reports of minor injuries in Tel Aviv.

The Israeli air campaign, code-named “León Creciente,” targeted over 100 sites including nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan, as well as military bases and residential areas near Tehran.

The strikes killed Hossein Salami, the highest-ranking Iranian military official to die in the conflict, along with General Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and prominent nuclear scientists such as Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi. These losses represent a significant blow to Iran’s military and nuclear leadership.

The escalation marks one of the most serious confrontations between Israel and Iran in recent years. Both sides have increased military operations, with Iran launching “hundreds” of missiles in retaliation and Israel continuing to intercept drones and missiles launched from Iranian-backed groups.
